Nuclear Medicine; Relieving the Pressure
This is a case study of a 26 y.o male with suspected chronic exeritional compartment syndrome (CECS), and a history of failed fasciotomy and rehabilitation for this condition. A nuclear medicine thallium scan was preformed to confirm the presence of CECS. The current gold standard to diagnose CECS is an invasive direct measure of comparment pressure. This case illustrates the vital role of nuclear medicine, and its ability to confirm the presence of chronic exertional compartment syndrome in a non-invasive way.
